JOB DESCRIPTION
 
JOB TITLE:  BUSINESS LICENSE OFFICIAL
ADMINISTRATION DEPARTMENT
PART TIME POSITION 
 
GENERAL STATEMENT OF POSITION
Under general supervision, administers and enforces the Town’s business license ordinance; collects and accounts for related fees and fines; investigates and collects delinquent business license fees; and performs related technical and clerical work as assigned.  Reports to the Town Clerk. 
 
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Enforces the business license ordinance; explains; interprets, and provides guidance regarding the same to the public. 
 
Refers to policy and procedure manuals, codes/laws/regulations, publications and reference texts, etc.
 
Operates a variety of equipment such as personal computer, motor vehicle, cellular phone, telephone, scanners, camera, electronic equipment, etc.
 
Attends meetings, workshops, conferences, etc., as appropriate to enhance job knowledge and skills.
 
Explain regulations and ordinances and acts as a liason between the businesses and Town government, obtain voluntary compliance when possible. 
 
ADDITIONAL JOB FUNCTIONS
 
Patrols throughout the Town looking for violations and enforces municipal ordinances requiring business licenses for all new construction, additions and alterations to existing buildings within the Town limits.
 
Receives and responds to inquiries, concerns, complaints and requests for assistance regarding areas of responsibility.
Inspects new and existing businesses to ensure they are operating with up-to-date Town business licenses; provides information and assistance to businesses as required to facilitate compliance with the Town’s business license ordinance. 
 
Performs general clerical work as required, including but not limited to preparing reports and correspondence, entering and retrieving computer data, copying and filing documents, sending and receiving faxes, answering the telephone, etc.
 
Management may assign additional tasks related to the type of work as necessary.  Performs other related duties as required and assigned. 
 
MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
Microsoft Word and Excel, High School Diploma and S.C. Driver’s License, Municipal Experience preferred but not required.
